Comprehensive testing is often the basis to any effective treatment plan. Dr Reka uses a number of testing methods looking at the blood, urine and stool. These comprehensive tests assess for deficiencies, health markers, imbalances and food sensitivities, in order to formulate an effective treatment plan specifically for the patient.
Optimizing hormones is at the forefront of health in our modern world and many struggle with imbalance symptoms- mood swings, insomnia, night sweats, hot flashes, hair loss. Understanding where the imbalances are through testing is the first step to fixing the problem and resolving symptoms. Through the use of nutraceuticals (vitamins and minerals), botanical herbs and prescribed BioIdentical Hormones achieving hormone balance and optimal hormone health is possible.
Work related tension, stress, poor posture and musculoskeletal and sports Injuries are all common sources of pain that we deal with on a daily basis. Acupuncture is a very effective way of targeting tight muscles and releasing trigger points for many dealing with acute or chronic pain. When combined with Electrostimulation of trigger points, acupuncture can help alleviate pain and reduce muscle tension quickly and effectively after one treatment.
Nutraceuticals are products that contain a high concentration of a particular substance (eg. vitamin, mineral) derived from a natural source, such as a food or plant, used to promote wellness, prevent malignant processes and control symptoms. Optimizing our nutrients through diet and nutraceutical supplements can address deficiencies, treat disease processes, and promote health. The benefits may include increased energy, improved gastrointestinal function, enhanced immunity, and general well-being.
Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin, which means the body does not produce it and needs to obtain it from foods on a regular basis for optimal health. B12 helps to form red blood cells and bind oxygen in our blood. When levels fall below an ideal range symptoms of fatigue, anxiety and nerve sensations and tingling in the body can result. Vitamin B12 injections can help boost energy levels, improve focus and concentration, support mood and the neurological system and aid in detoxification.
Vitamin D is a very important vitamin which we absorb through sunlight on our skin. In our cold and dark Canadian climate vitamin D levels are very often low and can cause a number of health concerns- low mood, depression, compromised immune system, bone density loss, hormone disruptions. Even with supplementation, vitamin D may not be properly absorbed. Vitamin D injections bypass the digestive tract and help to boost levels without the need for daily supplementation.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are regulated health professionals trained to be primary health care providers and experts in natural health by blending modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. NDs have a minimum of 7 years of post-secondary education and go through extensive clinical training in physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, diagnosis and physical exam as well as clinical nutrition. The goal of treatment is to evaluate the whole person, including physical, mental and spiritual aspects, in order to determine the root cause of symptoms and treat the person and their concern in its entirety.
