Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely fine needles into the skin at specific points to bring the body into harmony. While acupuncture is most known to treat pain, it is also commonly used for emotional wellness and stress management.
Acupuncture is based on the idea that all living beings have an inner energy called Qi (pronounced “chee”) that circulates through the body along invisible channels. If the flow of Qi gets blocked, like water getting stuck behind a dam, the disruption can lead to pain, lack of function, or illness. Acupuncture works by manipulating and correcting the flow of Qi and releases blocked Qi in the body, which evokes the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems.
Acupuncture has been used in Asia for centuries to treat many conditions and relieve pain. It’s now being used in Western countries to ease everything from low back pain, to nerve pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, and menstrual cramps — and more.
Modern science shows acupuncture can also be used effectively to treat allergies, infertility, rheumatoid arthritis, induction of labor, and adverse reactions to chemotherapy and radiation. Research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture helps to resolve pain, balance hormones, decrease inflammation, and improve sleep, digestive function and stress and well-being.
Cupping is an ancient body treatment, which applies negative pressure on the skin using glass, plastic or silicone cups. The suction created stimulates and increases blood flow which can help relieve joint and muscle pain, reduce inflammation, accelerate recovery, increase the function of the lymphatic and circulatory system and increase overall relaxation and wellbeing.
By creating suction, negative pressure cupping lifts and releases congested connective tissue (fascia), loosens adhesions and helps re-oxygenate old tissues that have been injured while increasing healthy circulation to the targeted area. Cupping is often used by professional athletes to help them get back to training faster.
Our customized cupping treatment can be performed in two ways: stationary cupping (which leave red marks on the skin for a few days) or sliding cupping. Both forms of cupping involve infrared heat or Red Light Therapy to promote maximum healing and spa-like comfort.
Red Light Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that helps reduce inflammation by stimulating cellular regeneration and enhancing blood circulation, leading to improved healing and reduced swelling.
Other researched benefits of Red Light Therapy include accelerated wound healing, enhanced skin rejuvenation, reduced muscle soreness, and improved recovery from exercise or injury. Cupping can be combined with Red Light Therapy to enhance healing.
Red Light Therapy is used in cosmetic acupuncture for its many benefits on skin health. Research has shown Red Light Therapy helps to repair and replenish damaged skin cells while simultaneously stimulating the production of collagen. This can lead to improved skin firmness and resilience, and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and superficial hyperpigmentation.
Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial acupuncture, helps to improve overall skin health and rejuvenate the appearance. It can help soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles while simultaneously giving the face a natural lift and a more youthful glow. Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural and holistic alternative to Botox or a facelift.
By inserting hair-fine sterile needles into specific muscle-releasing areas on the face, tense muscles that cause wrinkles and tightness in the jaw are relaxed. Circulation is increased to the face, leading to brighter skin tone and radiance.
The needles also initiate the body’s natural healing response, which promotes collagen and elastin production. This natural surge of collagen and elastin improves skin elasticity and firmness, leading to a tightening effect, lift and volume.

How many sessions do I need?
You can expect to see a difference in tone and tightening after the first treatment. A typical course of treatment consists of 10-14 consecutive treatments to see desired results. Twice per week for 5-7 weeks is ideal. While results are often noticeable after just a few sessions, a full course allows deeper, more lasting results to occur. After the course of treatments, maintenance is generally once every 4-6 weeks.
Ear seeds are small seeds or gem stones placed on specific acupuncture points in the ear to serve as tiny acupressure devices and are used to improve a range of issues such as pain tolerance, insomnia, and stress. Ear seeds are often added to an acupuncture treatment, as they can help extend and strengthen the effects of acupuncture. Ear seeds can be worn for up to 5 days post treatment.
Laser acupuncture involves using a laser pen that emits low intensity laser to stimulate acupuncture points. Laser acupuncture is commonly used by pediatric acupuncturists to treat babies and children, and those who are afraid of needles. Laser can be added to acupuncture treatments for certain conditions such as arthritis or sprains to accelerate healing.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses for more than 2,000 years. TCM is based on a belief in yin and yang, defined as opposing energies, such as earth and heaven, winter and summer, and happiness and sadness. When yin and yang are in balance, you feel relaxed and energized. Out of balance, however, yin and yang negatively affect your health.
Practitioners also believe that there is a life force or energy, known as qi (pronounced “chee”), in every body. For yin and yang to be balanced and for the body to be healthy, qi must be balanced and flowing freely. When there is too little or too much qi in one of the body’s energy pathways, called meridians, or when the flow of qi is blocked, it causes illness.
The ultimate goal of TCM treatment is to balance yin and yang by promoting the natural flow of qi. In an interesting analogy, often used to explain its nature, qi is described as the wind in a sail, we do not see the wind directly, but we are aware of its presence as it fills the sail.
Disease, alterations in the normal flow of qi such that yin and yang are imbalanced, is thought to have three major causes: external or environmental factors, your internal emotions, and lifestyle factors, such as diet. Through the use of its therapeutic modalities, TCM stimulates the body’s own healing mechanisms. Practices used in TCM include:
